Notes
I am inspired by the journeys people make. Roots, Cultural identity and Pathways have all become themes in my work. In addition I am also drawn to the relationships between mothers and their children. I love the saying “give your loved ones reasons to stay, roots to come back to and wings to fly”. Similarly I aim to convey through my work the feeling of both roots and wings. When I paint an individual I try and inhabit their feelings. I try to feel what they may have felt at that moment – as if I were an actor becoming a role.
